RFPs Received for Video Policing Program

The Gardena Police Department is pleased to announce the receipt of nine proposals for the Public Safety Surveillance Initiative Video Policing Program’s Request for Proposals (RFP).

In order to have been eligible to participate in the RFP process, a company must have submitted a Request for Information (RFI) in August, 2009.  Thirty-four companies responded to the RFI and were therefore invited to submit proposals for the RFP.

Responses to the RFP were due on January 29, 2010 at 12:00pm.  The award of the successful bidder is expected to be announced in March, 2010.

The Video Policing Program will begin being implemented with Phase 1, which includes the City campus, parks, and the Police Department’s jail facility.  We expect to complete Phase 1 in September, 2010.

Phase 2 will expand the system to include the major street corridors of the City of Gardena.  It is during this phase that the City also expects to begin utilizing public-private partnerships.
