GARDENA POLICE DEPARTMENT RECEIVES FUNDING FOR
ALCOHOL EDUCATION AND ENFORCEMENT
The California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) recently awarded the Gardena Police Department a grant in the amount of $19,522.
The Gardena Police Department will use the funds for enforcement, licensee education, and training in laws relating to ABC licensed establishments. Over the next year, officers from the Gardena Police Department will work in conjunction with investigators from ABC to conduct special operations that will focus on education, reducing alcohol access to minors, and making our community safer and stronger.
The special operations will include “minor decoy” operations where underage teens attempt to purchase liquor from ABC licensed establishments and “shoulder tap” operations where minors approach subjects outside an establishment and request they purchase alcohol for them. In addition to conducting inspections at licensed ABC establishments, we will afford the licensee and their employees with the opportunity to attend free training related to public safety and the laws that govern their day-to-day operations.
For further information, contact Officer Eric Hyde at 310-217-9671.
