Please read the below press release. The Gardena Police Department needs the public’s help in indentifying the vehicle and driver who struck and killed Jennifer Costlow. Any information you may have could be extremely important to solving this case.
Fatal Hit and Run Traffic Collision
Gardena Report Number 10-4992
On Thursday August 12th, 2010 at 11:59 PM, the Gardena Police Department received a call of a vehicle vs. bicycle traffic collision at Normandie Ave and Gardena Blvd. Upon arrival, Gardena Police Officers saw a female adult lying on the sidewalk near a bicycle. The female was identified as Jennifer Costlow, 31 years of age and a resident of Gardena. Costlow had significant head trauma. It was later determined that Costlow was four months pregnant. Los Angeles County Paramedics arrived on-scene and began to administer aid. Costlow was transported to a local hospital where she eventually succumbed to the injuries she sustained during the collision.
A preliminary investigation revealed that Costlow was riding her bicycle southbound on Normandie Ave when she was struck from behind by a vehicle also traveling southbound. The vehicle continued southbound on Normandie Ave without stopping to check the condition of Costlow. The vehicle was last seen traveling westbound on 166th St from Normandie Ave. The vehicle is described as a dark colored two-door car.
This collision investigation is being handled by the Gardena Police Department’s Traffic Bureau. The Gardena Police Department urges anyone who may have witnessed or has information regarding this collision to call Inv. Sergio Borbon at 310-217-6135.
